Unique Wedding Gifts Ideas for Unique Couples

Guest post by John Edwards

wedding gift ideasModern day weddings have ceased to be as personal as they used to be earlier. Now everything can be done by a third person—- wedding dress, flower arrangements, guest lists, invitation, wedding planning, you name it. All the bride and groom have to do is pay for it and be present on the day of their wedding. But you as a guest can be an exception.

Why not make the wedding gifts yourself instead of buying them from a store??? I know. It can be difficult. But with a little imagination and creativity you can make a lovely gift. If you do not want to make the entire gift yourself, you can also buy a gift and add a few touches to it to give it a completely new feel. Here are a few tips to help you.

  • Photo-frames: A store bought photo frame can be turned into a memorable gift by adding a personal message, on the reverse of the frame, addressed to the newly-wed couple. If you have an old photo with either the bride or the groom, you can add it too.

How to choose your wedding entrance music

Today, I would like to talk about  a subject that you hear very little about, and that is which music to use for your wedding.  As you know music sets the tone for any event. So today we have a guest blogger, who is a pianist and he is going to fill us in on this subject .

Guest Post by Martyn Croston

It can be a difficult task in choosing what music the bride should enter to. The right piece of music can evoke a special mood and act as the perfect beginning to a ceremony. Here are some useful tips in picking the right music for your special day.

One of the first things to consider is that the entrance of the bride doesn’t usually last a long time, so if you pick a 3 minute song, you may only hear the first minute or so. Therefore, if you do have a piece of music you would really like to hear the full length of, then it is advisable to use it for the signing of the register.

In terms of the various styles of music to choose from, there really are many options. You could pick something that is special to you, whether it is a piece of classical music like Pachelbel’s Canon, or a pop song that could signify the first time you and your partner met. However, you could simply pick some music that you feel is suitable for the occasion, or ask friends or family members for their advice.

Our guest post today covers the steps needed to make your own wedding album, while customizing it  to your style.

How to Create a Personalized Wedding Album

By

The modern wedding has moved beyond being a simple ceremony and celebration with family and friends. With the vast range of fantastic ideas and services available, weddings have become increasingly individual and more of us are looking for ways to create a personalized wedding album to bring back the special memories of our unique day.

In the past wedding albums tended to look much the same. A series of formal photographs would be mounted in a leather-bound wedding album, each page separated by an opaque interleave to help protect the photographs. Your parents probably had one for their wedding and their parents before them. They were the sort of wedding album that was kept under lock and key, hidden on the bookshelves, only to be brought on special occasions.

Making Wedding Albums – Creation Tips

When it comes to your wedding, every piece of item should be the best, yet should fit your budget. One of the most important objects that should not be absent during a wedding is a wedding album. Though it may be true that there are a lot of albums to choose from that are sold in your local bookstores and wedding boutiques, it is also a fact that most of those albums can be quite pricey while some may be lacking in ‘sentimentality’. If you want the best album for your wedding, why not create one, for example, a leather photo album that is sure to last many, many years?

DIY wedding flower arrangements

Floral Arrangement
Wedding Flower arrangements are too expensive.

When I was looking for flowers arrangements for my wedding, I could not believe how expensive the flowers were. I literally went from flower store to flower store trying to find a deal and could not find one. My wedding was also in November which is a low season month.

Next to the photographer and catering, flowers are right up there when it comes to price. Boy are they expensive. What are these flowers made of. . .  gold? Are they going to last a whole year?

What ever the case, we do have to understand that a lot of these flower shops are in business to make money and like a lot of us they have bills to pay and families to feed. But don’t worry there is a way around this.

Here are some ideas of what some friends of mine have done in the past:

  • Places like Michael’s, Christmas Tree Shop and other craft shops have fabulous products (ribbons, fabrics, fake flowers, floral foam, etc) to make professional wedding flower arrangements. All this for a fraction of what you would pay in a flower shop. A lot of these stores even offer wedding decor workshops.  Michael’s website even has instructions on how to make certain flower arrangements and what material you will need.

Wedding Photo Album – Do it yourself

A professional wedding photographer charges anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000, sometimes even more.

I’m not trying to put them down. A lot of these photographers do a very good job.  But if you’re on a budget, $3,000 is a lot money.

But don’t fear, with some patience’s and willingness to learn you can have that same $3,000 professional wedding album look for around $600 or less.  Here’s how we did it.

It turns out that my husband is very talented with photoshop. Most people are familiar with photoshop and if you’re not it’s not that hard to learn. All you need is to know is the basics.
